The Kazuki Hanafusa paper boxes are made using a technique that resembles the one used when making metal or wood tea canisters. To make a product work, extreme precision and finish are required. Several layers of paper are glued together one by one. And using only a few basic tools, hands and patience, the layers are carefully shaped into the final product. The decorative aesthetics of the boxes are obtained solely through coloured layers of paper. In this way, the boxes become functional decorations telling the story of material and construction. The two boxes are designed for carrying A4 size paper and office desk utensils. As a trained cabinet maker, Kazuki Hanafusa is used to only the best when it comes to details and finish. He enjoys manufacturing small scale objects and works with mainly wood, paper and textile.
紙製のボックスシリーズは茶筒のように蓋を乗せるだけで、すっと蓋が閉まるような、繊細な職人技によって作られています。しかし、工 程は非常にシンプルで数種類の道具と職人の手によって紙を一枚一枚何層にも貼り付けているだけです。技術の高い職人にしかでき ない技です。色紙が重なってできた美しい断面は、素材や構造を見せることができ、完成までの道のりの長さを物語っています。この2つ のボックスはA4サイズの用紙やオフィス用品が入るようにデザインされています。 小物職人の「花房一樹」は主に木や紙、テキスタイルなどを使用したものづくりを行っています。
